1-26-16-man

Be to me,
Holy God,
In the name
Of Christ Jesus
My king
The God
Who forgives
My iniquity.
Again I failed.
Again I need
The work
Done for me
At Calvary.
Again, I come
To you
Not having fought
As you taught
Me to
But having
Given in
To greed,
To the need
In my flesh
To be
Against you.
I sided
With your enemy,
Called out
To you
From a camp
Your soldiers
Bleed
And die
In that place
I went to be
Consoled
From the rigors
Of fighting
The enemy.
I reveled
Among the
Blood
Of my brethren.
Please
Forgive, restore,
Let me see
What I did
In its entirety.
Let me not
Excuse
Deafness to
The cry
From those
Imprisoned
Who I let
Down.
Raise the banner!
Let me be found
Never in the gates
Of the enemy.
Let my ears,
My heart perceive.
May I never
Cast blind eye
To my brother’s
Need
Or lower
The shield
While he/she
Sits waiting
In captivity
While I,
Heartlessly,
Lower our banner
And sneak,
Past their prison,
My prayers buried
Beneath the lust
That drives,
Encourages me
To, for “just a moment”,
Find relief
While the screams
Of my brethren
Fall deaf to me.
I lowered
My sword,
My shield
And took notice
Not of their
Captivity,
Suffering,
To satisfy me.
